What type of work will I be doing as a Volunteer?

Because our herbarium contains a collection of preserved botanical specimens (it’s like a plant library) from Saskatchewan, other parts of Canada and from around the world, our goal is to introduce volunteers to the basic techniques to prepare plant specimens to become part of the collection.

The tasks primarily include preparing and mounting specimens. Depending on your abilities and as you learn your work, you may be asked to perform additional duties, such as maintenance of the herbarium library and/or administrative work.

How will I learn or who will instruct me to do my work as a volunteer?
All volunteers work closely with our personnel, who will instruct and supervise them during the training period. As volunteers learn their duties, they also become independent and may assist in the training of new volunteers.

Please complete our Volunteer Request Form if you wish to become part of our volunteer team.
